Optus Going Places With Restaurant App

Gizmodo AU

Optus’ Go Places App will offer 20 per cent off at selected restaurants for Android, Blackberry and Symbian customers, although iPhone users will have to wait a little longer to get their tables.

Optus today announced the availability of the Go Places app, offering restaurant reviews and turn by turn navigation in the free version and discount vouchers for what’s claimed to be thousands of restaurants in the paid version. Optus customers won’t incur data charges for using Go Places — you can download it to any phone, not just Optus ones, but it’ll only work for Optus SIMs — but the paid version carries a $39.99 pricetag for a year’s unlimited voucher use, or $2.99 for a single use voucher, redeemable within 24 hours.

The app is available now for Android, Blackberry and Symbian platforms, but iPhone users will have to wait until ‘a later date’ for access to Go Places. [Optus]

Hate to be the first to put down, i got the app. Naturally it only works on 3G, which is all fine except for the fact that due to optus’ saturated network it takes ages to do ANYTHING. It would be easier to just call and just write the 20% as a loss.

It appears that all the deals are 20% off the total bill (up to a maximum of $25)

Please note that the app does NOT work if you are not on the Optus network… I have two phones – one with Optus and one with 3. It does not work on the 3 network.
