Google’s homepage doodles just keep getting better. Today’s Google is in honour of Freddie Mercury’s 65th Birthday, and it’s awesome.
We’ve had Pac-Man, we’ve talked to the folks behind the scenes, and I didn’t think there was anything more Google could do to surprise me. Today’s doodle — I won’t spoil it, head over to Google to view it yourself — proves that while they may be killing off all sorts of projects, Google Doodles are clearly alive and well for the time being. Although it’s obscured under layers of HMTL, it’s even got full Queen authenticity, as it appears to have been rendered in Flash.[Google]

Monday, September 5, 2011 at 8:45 AMSorry, but it is rendered in Flash, they’ve just hidden it under other HTML layers

Monday, September 5, 2011 at 8:57 AMGold star for you! I thought they’d switched over to a pure HTML5 approach, but a check of the source code does indeed suggest it’s underlying Flash.

Monday, September 5, 2011 at 11:54 AMso… is it flash, or a youtube video? I’m intrigued.

Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at 12:56 PMYoutube uses flash most of the time, except when using HTML5.
This is not one of those times.

Monday, September 5, 2011 at 9:35 AMI spotted that by having my flash disabled for google.com.
Doesn’t make it bad though.

Monday, September 5, 2011 at 2:15 PMWhat would of been better is if you hit it and the whole google screen showed the doodle. Still cool though, even if it is just a Youtube clip.
