Video: World’s New Fastest Roller Coaster

You have a better chance of being mauled by a penguin than you have of driving a Ferrari F1 racer. You can, however, ride the next best thing — the Formula Rossa rollercoaster, which catapults riders around its track at 240km/h.

Located in Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, the world’s largest indoor theme park with over 200,000sqm of roof, the Formula Rossa is the fastest roller coaster on the planet. The Formula Rossa is a launched coaster that employs a 20,800hp hydraulic winch system that generates 1.7Gs as it accelerates riders from 0-200km/h in roughly two seconds. Sure, it’s no jet-launching rail gun but the Formula Rossa can still fling its passengers up to top speed and a height of 52m in under five seconds. The ride is so fast that passengers are required to wear protective goggles similar to what sky divers wear to protect against 240km/h bug strikes. Unfortunately, the ride is also so fast that racing around the 2.2km track takes a mere 1:32.

Sat it before, was pretty disappointed at how fast it was. Sure its the fastest in the world, but its only the fastest for like 3 secs and then it slows down at the first sight on a slope!!

Its the initial acceleration that is exhilarating and then its like a high sch kid getting jiggy for the first time, over before it really began. I mean its fast, but nothing special, no loop or anything makes the track pretty boring too and i was sat right at the front.

In fact the whole park is pretty boring and adrenaline junkies shld stay away
