NBN Co has pencilled in when (and where) the next nine mainland locations will get the NBN. The rollouts in QLD, NSW and the ACT will deliver fibre to around 50,000 households. Is your suburb on the list?
They’re planning to extend out from first and second release sites in Coffs Harbour, Armidale, Townsville and Kiama — and start across the new locations listed below. According to Senator Conroy, “it’s estimated that the average time from the start of on-site works in the second release sites to the activation of first services will be around 12 months.”
NBN Co CEO Mike Quigley said: “The signing of the Definitive Agreement with Telstra – though yet to be approved by shareholders – together with the finalisation of the construction contract with Silcar, has allowed us to finalise the proposed schedule for the next round of construction in mainland Australia.” [NBN Co]

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 7:42 PMCoffs is hardly a backwater town nor Armidale, since it plays host to UNE. But I do agree because none of these places are near me >_>

Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 7:44 PMI was thinking not Goodna, but it was really badly flood effected. The NBN may be a good way to get business to return to the area.
