I’m clearly terrible at business, because I would have thought you’d be better off poaching developers who made popular apps for successful platforms instead.

Microsoft have been trying to lure as many developers as possible, even using Microsoft Game Studios to bring games to the platform. For example Angry Birds is a Microsoft Game Studios game.
