Slater tells The Telegraph that the little guy was probably captivated by its own image, reflected in the camera’s lens. This sufficiently freaked out the tiny primates: “They were quite mischievous jumping all over my equipment, and it looked like they were already posing for the camera when one hit the button.” And then everything changed. “The sound got his attention and he kept pressing it. At first it scared the rest of them away but they soon came back – it was amazing to watch.” This 2001: A Space Odyssey moment yielded hundred of self-shots, although most were too blurry to keep (amateur!). Unfortunately the macaques were a few evolutionary steps short of changing their default Facebook photos. [Telegraph]

Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 8:20 AMWow, that’s awesome! Bad thing is models are going to hire monkeys rather than me to take their photos.

Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:01 AMOr, magazines are going to start hiring monkeys to be the models, and take the photos!
They’ll only have to pay them in bananas
