How cool would it be if you could draw on your window and have the drawings move along with the car? Cool enough to keep the kids quiet for a few hours, don’t you think?
This type of interactive automobile window technology isn’t science fiction. It’s actually being developed by Toyota and the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design in a concept project known as “Window to the World.”
The researchers will embed a touchscreen into a standard automobile window and create an interactive slate for those sitting in the backseat. You could draw on the window, pinch to zoom to get a close glimpse of what’s outside or use it to display information about the surrounding landscape.
It’s a concept now, but Toyota Motor Europe hopes it will land in your Land Cruiser sometime in the near future. [Autoblog]

Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 5:00 PMIn my car on long journeys (which is anything over 30 minutes) the dreaded “are we there yet?” has changed to “Dad, can I play on your phone?”.
I hope they bring this idea to life soon, at least then the kids will look out the damn window like I used to do on long trips when I was young.

Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 8:27 PMParents will be mad when the car battery goes flat.
Also, this is just disturbing, go on, keep surrounding kids with technology, they won’t be able to live without it soon, 5 minutes away from technology and they’ll be curled up on the floor, rocking back and forth mumbling or screaming gibberish.
