New Android Market Looks Like A Windows Phone App

Google just launched a new Android Market for Android 2.2+ users and added book and movie downloads to the Market. What’s bigger news to me though, is that sticking true to Google’s recent trend, Android Market looks a lot better.

With the new look, Android Market’s humble beginnings are pretty much long forgotten. Though the new Market is vaguely reminiscent of the Metro UI in Windows Phone 7, it’s also easier and faster to use with new categories like staff picks and Editors’ Choice apps to help you narrow down better apps. Plus, looking like Windows Phone is a good thing these days.

Books are instantly available across all your devices once you buy them from the Market. The new Android Market will automatically rollout in the coming weeks to Android 2.2+ users. Enjoy the pretty, Android. [Google Mobile]

Well Microsoft is starting to make most of it’s money off Android so I think it’s fair game that it looks similar…

And I completely agree if it looked like 6.5 I’d be thinking that Andy Rubin had gone completely crazy!

Just opened the market on reading this. The only new thing I see is that Telstra have hijacked the link where I check my purchases for their five apps…

Good to see I’m not the only one who’s noticed that… fscking Telstra and their bloatware.
Mobile coverage and performance – exceptional.
Mobile bloatware – no thanks, please stay away.

Yeah Elly (Gizmodo’s night editor) noticed that, too. Weirdness.

I’ve lodged the new Telstra link as a fault with google via the support links. You now have to hit the menu button (htc desire) to get to your my apps link, i dont think its an acceptable change.

It’s like they want to push people to root their phone and put custom roms on with these stupid changes.

Hadn’t thought of doing that. Now everyone should.

Why fight it? I’ve rooted and installed a custom rom and never looked back. No more bloatware!
