Why Does Samsung Want To Build A Cylindrical AMOLED Screen?

Next year we could be seeing mobile phones with round displays, if Samsung has anything to say about it. The first thing that springs to mind is that it might be for some kind of wearable mobile phone, wrapping around a wrist.

Samsung’s already shown off a prototype 4.5-inch flexible AMOLED display, which could be used in this new product, but I do have to wonder about the use of such a portable device. Could it be a phone that wraps entirely around the wrist? Some kind of tin can-shaped phone? A tablet that sits atop the head like a fez? [OLED-Display via Uberphones via UberGizmo]

    I would have thought that Samsung was simply showing how pliable it is, not necessarily making a circle of it as a product! I think it would be perfect for a phone you can put in your back pocket and sit on it, like your wallet!!
