Government Closes Branch Responsible For Mandatory Filtering (But Still Wants It Introduced)

John Hilvert over at ITNews has reported that the federal government has closed the branch responsible for mandatory ISP level filtering in the DBCDE, yet remains committed to filtering the internets.

As a result of the government scrapping support for optional filtering programs in the federal budget last month, the DBCDE has seen a restructure which has reallocated staff from the branch previously responsible for mandatory filtering. But the government claims that the responsibilities have just shifted departments too, and they are still committed the filtering the internet.
