Anonymous To NATO: Do Not Make The Mistake Of Challenging Anonymous

NATO recently condemned the antics of Anonymous, saying that “the longer these attacks persist the more likely countermeasures will be developed, implemented, the groups will be infiltrated and perpetrators persecuted.” Anonymous didn’t like that.

According to CNET, Anonymous replied via online channels with the following statement:

“Finally, do not make the mistake of challenging Anonymous,” warned Anonymous in its message. “Do not make the mistake of believing you can behead a headless snake. If you slice off one head of Hydra, ten more heads will grow in its place. If you cut down one Anon, ten more will join us purely out of anger at your trampling of dissent.”

I can’t say I’m not entertained by that response, but given the US position on cybercrimes, it’ll be curious to see how far Anonymous will really go with their activism-minded hacking sprees. [Nato and Anonymous via Cnet]

As part of anon, i will help take our fight as far as it needs to go – We fight for what we believe is right, just as many others do.

Can you explain to us, member of Anonymous, how it is not hypocritical to operate an organisation that keeps its own details secret, and yet seeks to end secrecy?

Not trying to be facetious, just wondering what your answer is.

        Fire with fire I reckon.

I dare say it’s too late to fight out in the open, as you’ll be deemed enemies of state or a terrorist, chose one and apply liberally.

If our identities were known, our fight would be over. All revolutions have come about through hard work underground, gathering support and putting plans into place where they could be enacted upon with the greatest effect.

The difference between us and ‘them’ is that we will not use secrecy to the detriment of others, rather the salvation.

How can you guarantee this, anon? Will you at least acknowledge the irony?

Nato could just change their logo to a cat. With wide eyes and it’s mouth open. Or wearing a novelty hat.

You know, just based on this announcement, this “Anon” group is sounding more and more like fanatics. “We believe what we do is just. We intend and will take justice into our own hands against the tyranny of government.” If they really start to take “action”, then that brings them one step closer to terrorists.

One man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter.

Anonymous has a clearly stated goal, to give more power to the people of the world. Is that a bad thing?

Exactly; acknowledging that your fight is only as just as you believe it is, only gives further weight behind NATO’s statements. The difference with NATO is that they are far more accountable for their actions, because there are many interest groups that are indepedently monitoring their decisions. To me that sounds like a more realistic form of freedom and representation of the people than what Anonymous are positioning.

All of this 4chan bullshit is stupid.
Just a bunch of bored neckbeard failures with nothing better to do. There is no structure, no end goal. If anyone wants a good idea of how “anon” works, picture a school of fish swarming together. If a small group makes a move the rest will follow. It is a hive minded mentality. Everyone takes credit for everyones work.

How do I know all of this? I’ve been visiting the site since 2003. Stopped lurking /b/ in 2007 to have a family. Only the stupid still congregate there.

olearymo: Seems like a pretty obvious answer to me. Anon isn’t a government so why should they not have secrecy. Governments are supposed to represent the people, so why would they hide anything from the people they represent? Anon represent themselves and nobody else.

    Anonimity..
The face of a coward if you ask me.
Like all the other “freedom fighters” who hide behind balaclavas and other masking.

I wonder how ‘anonymous’ members of ‘anon’ really are when one of them is buckling to police interrogation…?

i disagree. If your fighting vested interests who can change the law at their whim, will outright lie and pin you for illegitimate crimes, are corrupt beyond belief and are boys club that pretends to represent the people but only represents themselves your only option is to be Anonymous.

You think the resistance fighters in WW2 just walked around with guns and bombs trying to fight occupying forces during the day light. Of course not, how long would their supporters and activists lasted if they were known ?
