Android App Downloads Now Total 4.5 Billion

Google’s seen an impressive jump in downloads from its Android Market app store, with their mobile advertising sales director for Europe Ian Carrington revealing it was just a year ago that it was only one billion downloads, “and that first billion took two years to happen… the last billion took 60 days.” [The Guardian]

Do they count updating an app as a “download”? If thats the case, thats misleading imo. A download is downloading an app that you dont already have on your device, specifically excluding any updates.

It’s impossible to tell from that article. Given your phone/google account knows what apps you’ve downloaded in the past, you’d like to think not.
