The Coolest Picture of Lightning You’ll Likely See Today

Gizmodo AU

Given the good timing of this shot, the photographer called it a ‘once in a lifetime’ image. The picture was taken with several filters added and six second exposure time.

When lightning hits water, it usually disipates in the immediate area. But depending on the level of voltage and the path of resistance, the bolt can still affect a large distance of surrounding water, so generally it’s a good idea to play it safe and not be anywhere in the water during a storm.

Well if he was looking for his lighting strike shot I can’t say standing under that tree is the best place to take it….

Sorry, I disagree. You could stand there taking pictures at the volcano and pretty much be assured of lightning from what I’ve seen. This picture however…..you could stand there a lifetime and not even see lightning hit the water let alone get a picture of it that good. Get’s my vote.
