Hello there, PlayStation fans! Today’s an exciting day! Sony has a big announcement planned in Japan this afternoon. Rumours are flying all over the place like flies around a barbecue, but the most popular thoughts are that we’ll finally see the PSP2 and/or the Playstation Phone. What do you think?
My guess is for both the PSP2 and the Playstation Phone. There was a reason the Xperia Play wasn’t shown off at CES and while my initial thoughts were that it would make a splash at Mobile World Congress next month, I think it would be foolish to only announce a PSP2 today.

I mean, what the hell are thinking? Expecting people to be surprised at this when working prototypes have been making the rounds for months.

My money is on the playstation phone, or more accurately, the PSP2 with phone capabilities.

In a handheld device? I don’t care how much money Sony has throwing at this, but it’ll violate the laws of thermodynamics simply keeping this thing running for over 5 minutes on a charge without burning your hands off.
And with the 3DS likely to be $350 (no phone), expect any device announced to have an easy $700 RRP.
