Melbourne Museum Launching iPad App For A Closer Look At Exhibits

title=The problem with going to museums is all that safety glass that stops you from getting right up close to the exhibits. Melbourne Museum is getting past this problem by launching an iPad app, that will give visitors a much closer view of some of Museum victoria’s 16 million items.

The app, which is expected to launch around the museum’s 10th birthday celebrations on October 21, takes users through a tour of ten different exhibits within the museum including their Phar Lap exhibit and the massive blue whale skeleton.

Dubbed “Please touch the Exhibit”, this is a pretty interesting way of using the iPad. It will be fascinating to watch and see how other museums expand on this idea.
