One of the cooler gadgets on display on Samsung’s IFA stand last week was the Galaxy Beam, a pico-projector-toting Android smartphone that hit Singapore shelves back in July. I wouldn’t hold your breath for an Australian release though.
Running Android 2.1, with tri-band 3G (900, 1900 and 2100MHz), the Galaxy Beam (which went by the codename Halo for a time) has a WVGA projector capable of a 50-inch screen. And while the projector makes the phone a little chunky, the 8MP camera, A-GPS and 3.7-inch AMOLED screen make it a very attractive camera.

Sadly, it’s unlikely we’ll ever see an official release in Australia – although the word from Samsung doesn’t rule out the possibility:
“There are currently no plans to launch the Samsung GALAXY Beam in Australia, however, if consumer interest or demand is there, we will review the situation.”
In other words, start demanding!

Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 4:54 PMWow. This would be pretty sick. Very awesome in fact. I’d be up for one. Thinking about the Samsung Galaxy S at the moment, or the new Galaxy tab coming out… and now this one.. if it gets a release. 3 great options.

Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 4:59 PMAH FUCK!, I was seriously telling a mate last night that having a phone with a projector in it would be a great idea.
There goes another idea I’ll never make any money from… I’ll just add it to the using MP3′s as a ringtone idea I had about 10years ago.
