The last time I braved the horror that was MobileMe, it left me a broken, wreck of a man. I’ve heard it’s gotten better, but that initial trial told me in no uncertain terms that it wasn’t worth $110. Fortunately, OzBargains user ccrap is letting everyone know that David Jones is selling Apple’s “Cloud” solution for just $66, which is a pretty cheap way of being able to track your lost or stolen handset.
And as Gus over at Lifehacker points out, coupled with Apple’s 60 day trial, the $66 price tag doesn’t look too bad when stretched out over 14 months. If you’re thinking of getting MobileMe, this is as good an offer as you’re likely to find…

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 3:59 PMMobileMe’s Locate my iPhone is probably the only reason why I’d use it. Considering it works out to less than $5 a month for peace of mind, I think it is well worth the money!

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 6:22 PMMobileMe is the only way I’ve been able to sync my iPhone, iPad and Outlook contacts and calendar both ways. It’s well worth the money for just for those functions! Unfortunately Google’s Sync doesn’t replicate this function hence MobilMe still has a place.

Erm…lost, sure it’s helpful but what are you actually going to do with this information if it’s stolen? I value the remote lock and remote wipe options as I don’t normally have a lock on my iphone and its got all my email accounts, facebook, photos etc on it with auto-login.

Monday, September 20, 2010 at 11:34 PMMobileMe (mac.com) has been fantastic for me since i registered in 2000. I’m sure people could debate and argue all of the issues and how I can get better & bigger services from a multitude of other hacky places, but for me it’s always behaved very well, been a perfect and seamless addition to my setup (especially when upgrading me machines) plus without fail never fails to impress when people ask me “How did you do that!!” usually in reference to syncing, photo gallery or iDisk. Worth more than it’s cost for me.
