Navteq Joins The iPhone Navigation App Party

Gizmodo AU

Navteq has just updated their iGo iPhone turn by turn navigation app, with turn-by-turn navigation for all of Australia and New Zealand, complete with 3D visuals and maps updated quarterly.

The app will set you back $75, which seems to be around about par for the course for iPhone navigation apps. Considering it includes text to speech and spoken street names, it seems pretty well featured for a navigation app, despite the fact that the design looks a little Windows Mobile to me.

Hi Nick, this app for the iPhone is called iGo and is built by a company called NNG Global Services LLC based in Budapest, Hungary. The company NNG then license the map data from NAVTEQ International LLC so that this app can provide accurate street level maps with turn-by-turn navigation, voice guidance, 3D city landmarks, etc.

This iGo app is definitely not the first iPhone app using NAVTEQ’s map data. There are many other apps for iPhone, Android, Windows Mobile, etc out in the global smartphone marketplace using NAVTEQ’s digital mapping data.

    With regards,
