On Monday, the Android Australia blog picked up that Vodafone had pulled all mention of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 from their website. Now Vodafone has confirmed that they’ve delayed the launch.
The Australian launch of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 on the Vodafone network has been delayed. The original go-live date was scheduled for early May. Vodafone and Sony Ericsson are working together to ensure that the Xperia X10 performs at the highest level on Vodafone’s Australian network and will announce a revised launch date in the near future.
Vodafone’s official comment doesn’t tell us too much. Considering both Telstra and Optus are already selling the Android device, it seems odd that Voda have delayed their launch. Still, if you are looking at the Xperia and wanting to partner it with Vodafone, at least you know that it hasn’t been totally cancelled.

Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at 9:43 PMThree website also shows the X10 as being out of stock. In fact the X10 image displays a ‘new’ sticker coupled with an ‘out-of-stock’ message. Telstra has never stocked the X10, so that leaves Optus as the only carrier for the device.

Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11:26 AMTelstra are stocking the X10, but it doesn’t seem to be listed on the web.
They are on the shelf at T Life shops and I’ve seen them at JB Hifi’s telstra island.
Oh, and I know 2x folks who’ve had them from Telstra for a few weeks now.

Turns out you are correct – Telstra stores are indeed stocking the X10. And they’ve updated their website as well.

Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 1:30 PMLittle insight to the delay, Voda have the stock at each store but were told not to sell them, seems when they rolled out the phone there was an issue with the internet settings on the phone, rendering them unable to use the Voda network.
Work from high up and Sony Erricson is that they are working on a patch for it to make it work, but chances are we’ll need to send stock back from the store and recieve new ones.
The main issue with the software is that although it’s running android, it’s running it’s own variation of it to include Timescape. So if you were to update it to the new 2.1 Android right now you’d lose the Timescape features, which is pretty much the best feature of the phone.

Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11:47 AMWas sussing one out at the 3 store the other day. The store manager told me they pulled the X10 because of dodgy firmware. FWIW Voda had them as of last Saturday.

Monday, May 24, 2010 at 5:43 PMTimescape is not the best feature of the phone. It looks really cool and all but it slows down the rest of the phone. I’d say the best feature of the phone is the design adn the hardware specs. I think it’d actually run better if it ran vanilla android.

Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 12:54 AMThe x10 is full of issues. I have one and constantly experience the browser just dissapearing. I have lost out on an ebay auction because of it! I try to open a new one and the screen is frozen for about 10-15 seconds. The battery dies ridiculously fast and apps and programs run in the background. I am hoping the update solves these issues if not ill be returning sending it back until i get the lemon deal and choose the new iphone. Maybe the iphone 4 issues will be fixed by then.
