UPDATED: Apple iPad To Cost $899 In Australia?

title=There’s been a lot of speculation about local pricing and availability of Apple’s iPad, but online computer retailer Computer World Online has listed the tablet at $899 on their website.

There aren’t any details about exactly which version of the iPad it is – there’s no choosing memory size or a 3G option either – although the device description seems to just be a cut and paste from the iPad’s page on Apple’s website.

There are probably too many question marks for this to be considered 100% accurate, but there’s enough of a markup over the US version’s $US499 starting price to make us wonder…

UPDATE: Reader Daryl contacted CWorld about the pricing, and the company has updated the site now. Turns out the $899 was for the 32GB Wi-Fi model… from the US. Yep, this doesn’t seem to be an official local distribution arrangement, more an enterprising computer retailer jumping on the hype.

Other prices include the 16GB model for $755 and the 64GB for about $1,029.

So what do people think about it now?
