Despite all the negative press the iPhone, iTunes and the App store has been getting in the past week or so, it doesn’t seem to have slowed demand. Jen Dudley-Nicholson at the Courier Mail is reporting that all the Telcos have sold out of the new iPhone 3GS across the country.
Apparently Apple have said that they can’t produce enough to meet global demand for the device. Sucks to be them, then, doesn’t it?
If you are trying to pick up a new iPhone, your best bet is probably heading to an Apple Store rather than a carrier’s shop…

Good lord. Next thing you know they’ll become a form of currency.
Save us, Your Steveness! We are humbled.
In other news, there’s no info on how AppleTV, Mac Minis or Macbook airs are going – nobody cares.

doesn’t matter how popular iPhone gets apple is still not being labeled as a phone maker. with the growing iPhone hype and iPhoner’s ego, apple’s Mac seems fall off the list of gossip. don’t know if that is a good thing or not, for them.

personallly, I think iPhone will become Apple’s primary business over the next few years. I don’t think that’s a bad thing, but they need to start treating it (the App Store in particular) more like their main focus, and drop some of this black box mentality. Walled gardens don’t scale well.

Thought it was funny earlier in the week I read somewhere that Apple Australia was denying there’s a shortage. So… no operators have any at all… but there’s no shortage…

Iphones are not running out. Its all lies. Harvey Norman near my work, home, as well as quite a few other places i have visited, all have plenty of stock.
I was there today and asked, and they have 100 in stock.
This is just promotional lying by arrangement between Apple and the telcos.

Hiro,
Where are the places you mention that have the iPhone in stock? Because I’ve tried calling around and can’t seem to be able to source one (although I want one on the Virgin plan in particular)
I was also curious as to what purpose it would serve Apple and the telcos to deliberately tell people they were out of stock? Isn’t their objective to sell as many as possible, not deliberately withhold them?
