Apple Now Selling Unlocked iPhones Online
Want an iPhone? Want an unlocked iPhone? Can’t be bothered heading down to an Apple Store to get it? Then good news people! Apple are now selling both the 8GB iPhone 3G and the 16GB and 32GB iPhone 3GS models on their online store.
You can grab the 8GB iPhone 3G for $719, while the 16GB 3GS costs $879 and the 32GB model costs $1,040, which is the same price as picking them up from the Apple Stores, with the added bonus that you don’t have to change out of your pyjamas to buy one.
[Apple – Thanks Huy!]

That will kill off those $1500 Ebay sales. What’s the bet that a huge number of Ebayers are kicking themselves by bidding more than this but can’t get out of the sale.

sweeeettt.. about time
Wonder if they will ship internationally?
What would be the best plan/prepaid sim with heaps of data?
This is good news.
Now I can get one and not have to worry about trying to convince Telstra that I don’t need a different plan.
That’s great news, it really goes to show you how much Apple had to let go of to enable them to sell the iPhone in Australia. I wonder if the iPhone 3GS is available globally unlocked??
Ah, another one of these news articles.
If you pay by credit card, you’re going to pay and additional 10-15% right?
If so, then I’d still think Vodafone->Prepaid is still a better choice.
How do you figure you pay an extra 10-15% with a credit card?
I only use my credit card because of the convenience and pay it out each month so I don’t have to pay interest. A lot of credit card owners do the same thing.
Is this a phone I can use anywhere, by putting a local SIM card in? I don’t live in Oz but am willing to assist the economy by purchasing an unlocked iphone.
