More than two years after its launch, NASA's OSIRIS-REx spacecraft has beamed back what the space agency is calling a "super-resolution" view of the asteroid Bennu. OSIRIS-REx is NASA's exciting mission to near-Earth asteroid 101955 Bennu, which the spacecraft is set to reach in about a month, to collect and bring back a sample to help scientists better understand the origins of the Solar System.

Recent headlines have contained a lot of asteroid-nuking talk. There's a team of Russian scientists zapping mini asteroids in their lab, and supposedly NASA is thinking about a plan that would hypothetically involve nuking Bennu should it threaten Earth in 2135.
NASA's Origins Spectral Interpretation Resource Identification Security -- Regolith Explorer (OSIRIS-REx) spacecraft is hurtling through the void in order to link up with an asteroid named Bennu in 2018. While the intrepid spacecraft still has a way to go until its big rendezvous, it recently flew by Earth. It posed no immediate danger to our planet, but if you had a good telescope with a camera, you might have been able to snap a pic!
