Gizmodo Awards 2011: Best iPad Alternative Nominations Now Open

The end of the year is nigh, and that means it’s time to sort out what the best products of the year have been. Tablets have, it’s safe to say, been a contentious issue this year — but which was best?

Was it the Asus Transformer or Eee Pad Slider? The Galaxy Tab 10.1 or Sony’s Tablet S? The Playbook, the Xoom or something else? Whatever your choice, nominations are now open. There’s only one way to make your choice for best iPad alternative known, and that’s by getting noisy in the comments below.

To quell the debate (a little), we’ll say this: The iPad / iPad 2 has a dominant market position, but we’re interested to know what you think, aside from it, was the best tablet.

We’ve already opened up nominations for the best laptop, best mobile, best television, best ADSL/Cable ISP, best camera and best mobile broadband as well — you’re free to nominate as many times as you like.

We’ll roll out the rest of the nominations this week, so keep your comments in this article tablet centric for now, and check back next Thursday when voting commences!
