Donald Trump Thinks Tim Cook’s Name Is Tim Apple

Yesterday the President of the United States and the CEO of Apple attended an American Workforce Policy Advisory Board meeting.

It sure did seem like a regular meeting until Donald Trump forgot Tim Cook’s name.

Everyone, meet Tim Apple.

This weird moment was spotted by The Verge’s Makena Kelly, who took the time to transcribe this part of the broadcast.

“We’re going to be opening up the labor forces because we have to. We have so many companies coming in,” Trump says. “People like Tim — you’re expanding all over and doing things that I really wanted you to do right from the beginning. I used to say, ‘Tim, you gotta start doing it here,’ and you really have you’ve really put a big investment in our country. We really appreciate it very much, Tim Apple.”

Watching the clip, it’s difficult to find a different way to read into this. For example, Trump doesn’t appear to be thanking both Tim and Apple by saying, “Tim, Apple.” There’s really no room for a comma when you listen to how he says it.

It’s also not part of a larger sentence. There’s a significant pause between “Apple” and when Trump starts speaking again.

You can watch it for yourself here:

This also isn’t the first time that Trump has gotten the names of people he’s literally talking to wrong. In fact, someone made a compilation earlier this month.

Of course, everyone makes mistakes. But come on, Tim Apple is pretty funny.

And when it happens this often, you gotta wonder how much respect the president actually has for the people around him.

We’re looking forward to his next big meeting with Elon Tesla and Jeff Amazon.
