Stan’s Original Series Bloom Just Got A Dramatic New Trailer

Stan’s epic new original drama Bloom is almost upon us.

The full trailer for the supernatural mystery has been released, giving us a first glimpse of the catastrophic flood that changes a town forever.

The groundbreaking series, which is released in full on January 1, takes place one year after the flood hits an idyllic country town, prompting a mysterious new plant to appear with the power to restore youth.

Stars Phoebe Tonkin, Bryan Brown and Ryan Corr will all be attending the world premiere of the show in Sydney next week.

With its teaser tagline, ‘You’re only young twice’, Bloom promises to explore themes about the scarcity of time, the impulses of youth and the life regrets that come with age.

Jacki Weaver plays the main character Gwen Reed, a successful actress now suffering from Alzheimer’s. Tonkin portrays Young Gwen after her youth is restored.

All six episodes of the Stan Original were filmed in regional Victoria. It was created by Glen Dolman and directed by John Curran and Mat King, who worked to give Bloom an “unworldly sense” when it comes to aesthetics.

“I would call it a supernatural drama,” producer Sue Seeary told Gizmodo. “There are mystery elements to it but it’s also a very strong character drama. It’s definitely got its own unique voice, which is exciting.

“The premise of Bloom finds a town left in a kind of purgatory. This terrible event happened, they’ve lost loved ones, and a lot of them can’t really move on. There’s a bit of a surreal element to it where they’re not moving forward.”

Bloom premieres on Stan January 1, 2019.
