Remember the times when bitcoin sent the cost of building a PC through the roof? What a pain in the arse that was. Fortunately, you can pick up a pre-built gaming rig these days for very affordable prices.
A whole range of prebuilt systems are available now through eBay, and they’re going to be even cheaper from 1700 AEDT to midnight tonight.
Here’s one offering that’s not bad to start with: an Intel i7-8700 CPU with a GTX 1060 6GB, a 120GB SSD and 2TB drive for storage, and 8GB RAM for $1139.05 (with the PERCENT5 checkoutcode). Once the 15% sitewide sale kicks in tonight, that price will go down to $1019.15.
If you want something a bit cheaper, or would rather get a good AMD system off the ground, here’s a Ryzen 5 2600 rig with a RX 580 8GB, a 120GB SSD and 8GB RAM for $759.05. It’ll drop to $679.15 later tonight, and after spending a couple of hundred dollars on a cheap 1TB drive (which you can get for around $60 at any good PC retailer) and about $170 more for 16GB of RAM, you’re looking at a solid mid-range gaming PC for under a grand.
Similarly, PC Byte (a Sydney based PC retailer) are offering a pre-built Ryzen 5 2600 rig, complete with 8GB ADATA DDR4 RAM, a 120GB/1TB storage configuration and a GTX 1060 6GB for $1139.05. Later tonight, that price will come down to $1019.15.
Given that you’re getting a hexacore CPU, a solid GPU for gaming at 1080p and RAM that you can upgrade to 16GB for another $90, that’s not half bad. You could always build it yourself, of course, but some people don’t have the time or expertise. (If you want to save some extra money, however, we’ve got a nifty guide you can check here.)
