We're mere hours and many, many caffeine injections away from the launch of Apple's 2018 iPhone offering. While we don't have any hard facts yet, there are some strong rumours out there.
Here's what we've heard so far.
Early speculation saw simple, numbered names for the new devices — the iPhone 11 for the new flagship and the iPhone 9 for the budget option. However, recent leaks and rumours have suggested that what we're going to see more of an internal upgrade rather than a redesign, and with 's' names to match.
There's an increasingly strong assumption that the new iPhone X replacement will be dubbed the Xs and that its larger counterpart will be the Xs Plus or Xs Max.
Until this week we hadn't seen any substantial leaks regarding the name of the iPhone 8 replacement. Now one from an alleged China Mobile presentation has cropped up and reveals that it may be called the Xc. Yet another has referred to it as the Xr.
We're only a few days out from Apple's event of the year. But that doesn't mean that the leaks and rumours about the new suite of iPhones has slowed down. Today it's all about the Chinese pricing and what the names will be.
The iPhone Xs is rumoured to be 5.8-inches, with the Xs Plus/Max coming in at 6.5-inches. They will apparently have OLED screens, a new A12 processor, 4GB of RAM, Face ID and wireless charging.
And according to an alleged Geekbench leak these devices will also come with a larger battery that is 10 per cent faster. In fact, the Plus/Max may even be up to 3,400 mAh — which is 25 per cent larger than the iPhone X.
The iPhone Xc/Xr is rumoured to have a 6.1-inch LED display (yes, apparently it's bigger in size than the Xs), the aforementioned A12 processor, Face ID, a single rear camera and a notch. Apparently it will also only have 3GB of RAM, which is same as the current iPhone X.

Here's a controversial one.
There was a rumour back in in June that Apple was going to ditch its proprietary Lightning port in favour of USB-C.
Considering that Apple first started putting USB-C into MacBooks back in 2015 (and was one of the first laptop manufacturers to do so), this may seem like a plausible move. That being said, the Lightning connector was only introduced in 2012 so I can't see them getting rid of it so soon. Plus, there's still a lot of money to be had be licensing Lightning tech to third party vendors.
But there's another possibility. A rumour that started on Weibo suggested that Apple may be keeping its Lightning port, but getting rid of its USB Type-A charging bricks for new models that have a USB-C port as standard instead. This theory seemed to gain some weight when Apple significantly reduced the price of its USB-C to Lightning cables in the Apple Store.

A post by DigiTimes that's making the rounds cites unnamed "analogue IC vendors" who say that Apple could be moving the iPhone and iPad to USB-C by 2019. That move would spell the gradual demise of Apple's proprietary Lightning port, which was introduced in 2012 and has been the connector for basically every iProduct since.
There's a bit of a split perspective when it comes to the 2018 iPhone pricing. Some expect Apple to surprise everyone by going cheaper in order to remain competitive. US$700 has been cited for the 64GB Xs, which roughly equates to $986 Aussie dollars, before taxes.
However, the aforementioned China Mobile leak revealed a slide with higher pricing — 8388 yuan ($1724 AUD) for the Xs Plus/Max, 7388 yuan ($1,518 AUD) for the Xs and 888 yuan ($1210 AUD) for the Xc/Xr. Those are also all allegedly for the 64GB versions.
This higher pricing was also backed up by renowned leaker Ben Geskin on Twitter:

It's really anyone's guess as to what will actually happen when it comes to the price tags at this point.
You'll notice in the above tweet that there are some possible 2018 iPhone colour reveals too — including an interesting looking orange, as well as what could be a gold or rose gold.
Those aren't the only colour leaks or rumours, though.
A few days ago he popped up this, showing white, dark blue-grey and what could be (PRODUCT)RED colours versions of the phones:

And just this morning another Weibo leak revealed what is possibly the SIM trays for the new iPhones, with the presumption that they will have bodies to match. They all seem quite similar to what we have seen above, except for the surprise 'brown'.

So those are the most solid 'leaks' and rumours we've heard so far. But you never know what could happen between now and 3am. We'll be keeping our ears to the ground and will let you know if any last minute information gets dropped.
And if it doesn't... we'll see you in the morning.
Get hyped, people. We're less than 24 hours away from Apple's Day 2018! It's the time of year when Tim Cook takes to the Steve Jobs Theatre stage to announce a fresh batch of iPhones for people to throw their hard earned dollars at.
Considering all the leaks and rumours flying around this year, anticipation is unsurprisingly high.
But new phones won't be the only thing on the agenda. Here's what we're anticipating.
