James Gunn discusses the possibility of Adam Warlock’s arrival in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Even more flashbacks are being hinted at for Avengers 4. Rian Johnson teases where he’s at for his new Star Wars trilogy. Plus, new pictures from Agents of SHIELD‘s return, and a Flash episode gets a delightfully revealing title. Behold, spoilers!
Batgirl
Much hubbub was made this week over an “exclusive” report from Super Bro Movies – a report that’s now very conveniently been deleted – claiming that Joss Whedon had been taken off the standalone Batgirl movie in the wake of Justice League‘s disappointing box office performance and an alleged belief that Whedon’s inputs on reshoots for the film were to blame for it. However, it’s basically a load of nonsense: A new report from Entertainment Weekly citing sources from Warner Bros. confirms Joss Whedon is still attached to write and direct the movie. So there you go!
Gambit
Omega Underground reports Gambit will finally begin filming in February, with a wrap date sometime in July.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
James Gunn has stated – despite Kevin Feige confirming it to us – that Adam Warlock still isn’t locked down to appear in the third Guardians movie. He’s still “baking in the cocoon”.
12 And despite so many people thinking Adam will show up in Vol 3 that is something that we have never confirmed. Who knows how long it will take him to bake in that cocoon. That said, I love Adam. But the time must be right.

Avengers 4
A set photo from AJC depicting multiple classic, 1940’s-era cars seem to indicate another flashback scene is currently filming in Atlanta… presumably, given the time and aesthetic, this one might have ties to Steve Rogers’ past.
Mission: Impossible 6
Director Chris McQuarrie posted a photo of Tom Cruise and Simon Pegg from the film on Instagram.
Star Wars: The Rian Johnson Trilogy
During a fan event in Mexico, Rian Johnson briefly discussed his excitement planning a fourth trilogy of Star Wars films.
We’re gonna have to see. I’m just in the very beginning of starting to come up with what the new trilogy is going to be. But I can tell you this, what makes me so excited about it, is the idea of doing a new story on the big canvas of three movies in this world. There’s just so much potential and I can’t wait to jump into it.

Twin Peaks
In a recent interview with THR, David Lynch once again stated it’s “too soon” to confirm a fourth season, but answered, “I’ve learned never say never.”
Riverdale
The Archie kids face down the Black Hood on Christmas Eve in episode nine, “Silent Night, Deadly Night” – titled after the infamous 1984 slasher.
After snooping around for Christmas gifts, Veronica (Camila Mendes) uncovers a major secret Hiram (Mark Consuelos) has been keeping from her. Fallout from Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) encounter with Penny Peabody (guest star Brit Morgan) creates tension between him and FP (Skeet Ulrich.) Meanwhile, a defiant Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) takes matters into her own hands after Penelope (guest star Nathalie Boltt) tells her they cannot afford Christmas this year. Finally, Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Archie’s (KJ Apa) vow to take down the Black Hood once and for all leads to a dangerous showdown.
The Flash
Episode 12 of the new season is revealingly titled, “Honey, I Shrunk Team Flash”, according to Spoiler TV. God, yes.
Crisis On Earth-X
Meanwhile, Brandon Routh spoke to CBR about the difficulties shooting 21+ heroes aboard the Waverider set at once.
Yeah, we used to get upset about have 9 people, or 9 characters on the bridge and figuring out how to shoot that, but having 21 or whatever it was is pretty insane. But Greg Smith, who was our director for our episode, knew what he wanted pretty quick. You have to have your ducks in a row when doing a crossover because people are coming from four different shows, like ‘We have Melissa for 2 hours and we have Grant for an hour, and we have Stephen for 30 seconds’ so gotta get the shot!
Agents of SHIELD
Coming Soon has pictures from the season five premiere, “Orientation” – more at the link.
