At a recent fan event in Japan, Rian Johnson revealed Joseph Gordon-Levitt has a brief cameo in the film, providing voiceover for a character. [Star Wars News Network]

X-Men: Dark Phoenix

ET Canada spoke to both Benedict Cumberbatch about The Current War and Nicholas Hoult about Beast’s role in the latest X-Men film:

It’s very different for Beast this time, and that was part of the appeal of doing the movie for me. Simon Kinberg who wrote and directed this time had great ideas for where he wanted the character to go, so I was excited.

The Dark Tower

Speaking with Mashable, Idris Elba revealed the fate of the franchise is pretty much up in the air at the moment.

Yeah, I don’t actually know, if I’m really honest. I do know about the TV series and I’m not sure where we are with that, but I couldn’t tell you what’s going to happen next. As you know the film was sort of mixed reviews, and some loved it and I think some hated it, so who knows.

It: Chapter 2

Speaking with Variety, director Andy Muschietti stated he’s in cursory talks with Jessica Chastain for the role of the adult Beverly.

She loves the movie and it feels like the planets are aligned in that sense, but we still have to make that happen. There are a lot of ideas for the rest of the cast that I’m playing with, but it’s a bit too premature to say those names right now.

Halloween

Jason Blum promises the new Halloween will begin production in 2018 — in fact, he stakes his life on it, in a delightfully violent pledge:

You can kill me. You can behead me. You can chop my hand off, the prince of horror, you can cut my hand off. That’s on the record.

In related news, John Carpenter “digs” the script and is still willing to write the score, according to a statement he made at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The Gifted

Garrett Dillahunt will recur as Roderick Campbell (better known in the comics as an alternate reality, mutant-hunting version of Ahab and later as Famine, one of Apocalypse’s four horsemen… I know, confusing), a mutant researcher under contact by Sentinel Services. “Professorial, intense and intimidating, Dr Campbell has a morally dubious mission yet to be revealed,” according to Deadline.

Arrow

Speaking with Collider, Marc Guggenheim reveals he had to arm-wrestle DC over bringing back Slade “Deathstroke” Wilson to the Arrow-verse.

It was a function of — you know, DC control these characters. We went through a period where DC said, ‘We’ve got plans for Deathstroke that don’t include Arrow.’ That changed at the end of this year because I basically, you know, we knew we were going to Lian Yu and we had to see Slade Wilson, so I went to DC and said, ‘Listen, I know you guys have plans for him and, you know, that’s all cool, but you’ve got to give us this one because we can’t go to Lian Yu and not see Slade Wilson,’ and as part of those conversations we also were like ‘and he’ll also need to be in the season premiere of season six because that ties into, you know, our plans, and it would be really great if we could tell a, you know, a Slade Wilson-centric story. We’ve never truly done that.’ So we’re doing a cool two-parter, episodes five and six this year and the flashbacks will be from Slade’s perspective and it’s very much a Slade/Oliver two hander. It’s always great having Manu on the show, and, again, it’s like, we just have to operate, you know, within the requirements of DC.

Titans

That Hashtag Show reports the Teen Titans will go up against an obscure DC villain named the Acolyte in the show’s series premiere — and the outlet also reports the character will murder Raven’s mother.

Lucifer

DC Inside has a video on the new season, including more details on Tom Welling’s mysterious new character.
