Nab Indy’s Whip Or The Doctor’s Panama Hat In This Massive Hollywood Prop Auction

At the end of this month, the Prop Store in London is putting on a truly incredible prop auction. Pop culture memorabilia enthusiasts will get their chance to dress like the Seventh Doctor, wield Conan’s sword, and a whole lot more when over 600 items from Hollywood history go on sale.

The list on offer, as detailed by WIRED, is pretty incredible, ranging from the relatively obscure to the iconic, sourced from a variety of production companies and collectors. According to Brandon Alinger, one of the Prop Store’s experts, each item has been specially researched and verified, meaning that each object on sale is absolutely the real thing. Prop collecting is outside of most people’s price range, but it’s still a fascinating business. Even if I’ll never be able to afford any of this, it’s neat to see where these items end up and how collectors get a hold of them.

And the offerings here are bonkers. I’m particularly partial to the xenomorph egg, myself. It’s almost affordable, too — bidding starts at just over $US1,200 ($1,511).

If you’ve got some spare time, I’d highly recommend paging through the massive list of objects going on auction. Other highlights include Jules Winnfield’s Bad Mother Fucker wallet from Pulp Fiction (starting bid: $US12,596 ($15,864)), Peter Quill’s Star-Lord helmet from Guardians of the Galaxy (starting bid: $US19,437 ($24,480)), and Peter Weller’s RoboCop costume, which I don’t want to buy but would like to try on (starting bid: $US16,189.31 ($20,390)).

You can check out the whole collection and register to bid, if you’re so inclined, here.
