‘Injustice: Gods Among Us’ Writer Has A New Video Game, And It Is Not What You’d Expect

It’s a leap from Wolverine and Injustice: Gods Among Us, but #1 New York Times best-selling Australian comic book author Tom Taylor’s animated TV series about one family’s submarine adventures – exploring treacherous sunken ruins and clashing with underwater pirates (aka The Deep) may just be his biggest hit to date.

The second season just dropped, it is already the highest rated show for its age group in the UK, and now there’s a mobile game to go along with it.

Taylor is the lead writer of the series, which is based on his award-winning graphic novels following the adventures of the Nektons. Illustrator James Brouwer (Justice League Beyond) is the co-creator and art director.

“When we created these underwater adventurers here in Australia, I don’t think James or I could possibly imagine how big a fan base the Nektons would have around the world,” Taylor says.

“These guys once only existed our heads, and now they’re translated into Arabic, Mandarin and Icelandic.”

Featuring the characters from the TV series, The Deep: Sea of Shadows is an action adventure mobile game where you need to solve the mystery of a mysterious dark ink clouding the ocean’s depths and corrupting the creatures who live there. A departure from the world’s best-known Superheroes battling it out, for sure – but the message of the story is no less important for our times.

It is out now on Android and iOS.

You can catch the TV series on ABC Me.
