HBO Is Making A Fahrenheit 451 Movie Starring Michael B. Jordan And Michael Shannon

Ray Bradbury’s famous 1953 novel Fahrenheit 451 is getting a feature-length update. HBO is set to make a new movie adaptation of the book, directed by Ramin Bahrani and co-starring Michael B. Jordan and Michael Shannon.

Jordan will play Guy Montag, a firefighter who burns books in a dystopian future where such things are outlawed. He then has a change of heart and feuds with his boss, Beatty, played by Shannon.

Legendary filmmaker François Truffaut adapted the novel himself in a 1966 film, and the idea of another remake has been kicking around for some time. Mel Gibson was even attached at some point. But now it falls to HBO, Jordan, Shannon and Bahrani — the latter two having recently worked together on another film with social-commentary themes, 99 Homes.

There’s no word when the film would air, but 2018 seems like a pretty good bet.
