Slo-Mo Video Reveals Batteries Become Tiny Missiles When You Light Them On Fire

By now we’ve all seen Slow Mo Guys are back with some more incredible slow-motion footage revealing that even the seemingly innocuous AA batteries stuffed in your TV remote can easily turn into a high-speed, exploding projectile if you’re not careful.

The warnings listed on the back of a pack of batteries explicitly caution users against exposing them to extreme heat or fire, which is exactly what the Slow Mo Guys do. The upside to them risking life and limb is that they also capture high-speed footage of the batteries failing. Alkaline batteries don’t do much more than just melt, but the more powerful lithium batteries used in this experiment quickly turn into miniature missiles.

Definitely don’t try this one at home, leave it to the pseudo-professionals who rely on your clicks to afford fancy high-speed camera gear.
