Our First Official Look At John Boyega In Pacific Rim: Uprising

He’s definitely looking a bit down in the dumps for someone who’s presumably about to spend a large part of a movie beating the crap out of giant monsters in an equally giant, rad-looking robot.

Although set pictures of Boyega in action have been floating around for the past few months, the actor took to Twitter yesterday afternoon to give us our first official look at his character.

Still no full name, though — all we know about him is that he’s the son of Idris Elba’s character from the first film, the outstandingly named Stacker Pentecost. Here at Gizmodo we’ve taken to calling him John Bo-Jaeger in the meantime*. Pacific Rim: Uprising is due to hit US theatres 23 February 2018. An Australian release date has not yet been confirmed.

*Truly fabulous pun courtesy of the wonderful Evan Narcisse.
