Robot Workforce: Even Our Buttholes Aren’t Safe

Robots will eventually take most of our jobs. It’s just a fact of modern life (maybe).

As further proof of this, may I introduce you to the Robotic Rectal Teaching assistant.

Dr Fernando Bello of the Department of Surgery and Cancer at the Imperial College London says that internal examinations are really challenging to learn and teach, with “explorations” taking place in an environment where neither teacher or student can see what is happening.

There aren’t a whole lot of volunteers for the gig, either. There is only one person registered in the UK as a Rectal Teaching Assistant. As if his job wasn’t bad enough, now it’s likely to be stolen by this robot butt.

The robot itself is actually very cool. As cool as a robot butthole can be, at least. It is made up of prosthetic buttocks and anus, with tiny robotic arms that apply pressure to the silicon rectum in order to simulate the natural feel of inner anus, which can change size and shape for different “scenarios”.

Even a 3D model of the rectum and prostate is displayed on a screen so you can see what’s happening.

Today is a good day for robot fans.
