Frank Miller and Geof Darrow’s comic Hard Boiled has a story seemingly made for the big screen. And now the tale of a boring insurance adjuster who’s actually (unbeknownst to him) a killer cyborg poised to lead a robot revolution may have found its director and star: Ben Wheatley and Tom Hiddleston.

The pair, of course, worked together in another dystopian science fiction tale, 2015’s High-Rise, based on the J.G. Ballard novel. If the deal goes through, Wheatley (whose diverse resume also includes Kill List, Sightseers, A Field in England and the upcoming Free Fire) would adapt and direct Hard Boiled, which Deadline reports is being eyed as an action-movie vehicle for Hiddleston. Presumably, it would also pay visual homage to artist Darrow’s work, which previously landed him a gig designing the Matrix movies — as well as being a one-two style combo of two of Miller’s best-known adaptations, since the production companies behind both Sin City and 300 are both involved as well.
