Video: I have seen three trailers for this movie, and I still can’t tell if the message is “the aliens are dangerous and they must be fought” or “the aliens are misunderstood and we should befriend them”. And I don’t really care.

However, if it turns out that the aliens are just as conflicted about what to do after they crashed as the humans, this will be one of the most nuanced giant action movies in a long time. Or — and I think this is more likely — it wants to be both deep and have a ton of alien versus human action. Either way, this movie from director Fedor Bondarchuk (Stalingrad) is very pretty looking.
