Eight seconds of movie footage isn’t usually something worth posting, but when it’s as significant as this teaser for the live-action Ghost in the Shell movie’s first trailer, you have to make an exception.

In the clip, a thermo-optically camouflaged Major beats the hell out of some dude before uncloaking. It’s a clear reference to this 1995 movie, where a similarly invisible Motoko also beats the hell of some dude in a similarly wet locale (it begins at about the five-minute mark):

Both Motoko and Scarlett Johansson’s Major are also wearing similarly nude-ish body suits, although I can’t quite tell if the Major is also sporting Motoko’s thermo-optically camouflage-friendly thigh high white stockings. I wouldn’t be surprised, though.

The full trailer debuts sometime on or after November 13.
