New Details On A Major Battle In Game Of Thrones’ Next Season

Unearthed

Doug Liman is in the running to direct the Amie Kaufman/Meagan Spooner-written film, about a pair of space-faring, tomb-raiding sisters who make a potentially apocalyptic discovery. Here’s the synopsis:

Jules Addison and Amelia Radcliffe join forces in a tomb-raiding race on a newly discovered planet to unravel the secrets of an ancient, long-extinct civilisation — only to uncover a revelation that could spell the end of the human race.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

James Gunn took to his favourite platform Facebook to talk about directing Stan Lee in the Guardians sequel, as well directing him for three of Lee’s four scheduled cameos, including Doctor Strange.

And it was definitely one of the most fun times I’ve ever had on set. There are few people in this world I love and admire more and have more fun with than Stan Lee. Even though he does love breaking my, and everyone else’s balls (I introduced him to Tom Holland for the first time and he said, “Everyone says you’re great! Personally, I don’t see it.”). Although, to be honest, I think I only did THREE cameos — one was shot by someone else. And my third probably isn’t what you think it is…

If you’ve seen the Doctor Strange cameo, it was one of MANY versions I shot on the day, and Scott Derrickson chose the final one. If I’m writing for Stan, why give him one line when I can give him a thousand? I just kept throwing lines at him one after the other, until we were all doubled over with laughter. Someday, after you’ve seen the movie, maybe Marvel Studios will let me share some of those with you.

Doctor Strange 2

Scott Derrikson told IGN he’d like to see the villainous Nightmare and the Nightmare Realm in a future film:

I really like the character of Nightmare and the concept that the Nightmare Realm is a dimension. […] That’s early — that’s like the first Strange tale. I think that’s in the introductory episode of Doctor Strange, and I always loved that.

Edge of Tomorrow 2

Doug Liman also found time to discuss the follow-up to the All You Need Is Kill adaptation, telling Collider that the film is a “sequel that’s a prequel”:

That is the only sequel that I’m considering doing. It’s because first of all the story is so amazing — much better than the original film, and I loved and loved the original film — and second of all, it’s a sequel that’s a prequel.

Jurassic World 2

Jake Johnson’s Lowery will not be in the sequel, according to the man himself:

Thor: Ragnarok

A slightly updated version of Thor’s costume has been revealed, in a picture Chris Hemsworth shared showing solidarity with the native protesters of the Dakota access pipeline:

Standing with those who are fighting to protect their sacred land and water. #nodapl #waterislife #mniwiconi @taikawaititi I would also like to take this opportunity to raise something that has been bothering me for sometime. Last New Year’s Eve I was at a “Lone Ranger” themed party where some of us, myself included, wore the traditional dress of First Nations people. I was stupidly unaware of the offence this may have caused and the sensitivity around this issue. I sincerely and unreservedly apologise to all First Nations people for this thoughtless action. I now appreciate that there is a great need for a deeper understanding of the complex and extensive issues facing indigenous communities. I hope that in highlighting my own ignorance I can help in some small way.

New Details On A Major Battle In Game Of Thrones’ Next Season

Game of Thrones

Watchers on the Wall has another extensive report from filming in Spain, which also offers new details on the frequently discussed battle that was filmed in Malpartida. The scenes, which feature around 450 extras, is actually a huge Dothraki ambush lead by Daenerys atop one of her dragons, perhaps signalling the beginning of her invasion of Westeros.

The battle, although on the scale of last years’ “Battle of the Bastards”, is believed to be an ambush on some kind of supply convoy, which the site speculates is guarded by Lannister forces, perhaps lead by Jaime Lannister. Head to the link to read more.

Willow: The Series

Ron Howard told Nerdist he’d be open for the long-rumoured series to actually happen at some point:

Warwick Davis is such a great guy, who played Willow. He remains a close friend, and I’m always rooting for it to become like a TV series or something because he’s such a talented guy. He’s been in so many wonderful fantasy movies since then, and comedies and other things. I know I’d like to watch a Willow television show. I think that would be a blast.

The Flash

Executive Producer Greg Bertlanti says that’s unlikely the show will ever return to its original timeline after Barry’s meddling. Nice job, Barry!

I’m not sure that we can [return to the original timeline], given what we’ve established. If we’re not challenging ourselves and creating new territory and new obstacles for the characters, I think it’s less rewarding to watch and probably less rewarding to play. We like to grow ourselves and grow our characters.

DC/CW TV Universe

Meanwhile, Stephen Amell discusses the scale of the four-show crossover:

It was really cool. We had our individual scenes, but then we had scenes where there were like 20 superheroes there in this big aeroplane hangar. And it looked like and felt like — and I think the fans will feel like — this is a big 3-4 hour movie that we are putting on.

Agents of SHIELD

Finally, a tense standoff between Coulson and Mace devolves into a discussion about the heroism of Han Solo and Admiral Ackbar in a new clip.
