Chris Pratt Becomes Latest Guardians 2 Actor To Create Impossible Expectations

Chris Pratt thinks Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 is going to be the biggest movie ever made. The hype is in danger of getting excessive.

Pratt was recently in Toronto to promote his not Guardians of the Galaxy western, The Magnificent Seven, when of course he was asked about Guardians of the Galaxy because those cowboys aren’t on HBO. While Pratt wasn’t allowed to give away any new information (Marvel’s got a grip on that whole deal), he did gush about the upcoming film.

“I’m not using hyperbole here, I think it’s going to be the biggest spectacle movie of all time,” Pratt told the Toronto Sun.

It’s not surprising for an actor to rave about their movie; most non-David Cross actors do it, even if their films suck (which Guardians 2 likely won’t). However, there’s a difference between “my movie is great” and “my movie is the best-looking piece of cinema ever made.” It just sends up a few warning flares.

Pratt isn’t the only Guardians actor who’s raving about the sequel. Recently, Vin Diesel posted a Facebook video where he simply sat in awestruck silence next to Guardians 2 director James Gunn.

“Guys, just give me a second here, give me a second here,” Vin Diesel said. “You’re not gonna believe this guys, wow!”

I’m sure Guardians 2 is going to be an awesome film. The first one was fun, unique, and inspired DC to add a bunch of music to Suicide Squad in a vain attempt to salvage the script. However, these guys are in danger of making the expectations way too high, which could end up doing some damage. And come on, “the biggest spectacle movie of all time”? I think Star Wars might have something to say about that.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 comes out in 2017. No word yet if it’s going to be bigger than Jesus, but we’ll keep you posted.
