If you see a Harley on the road, chances are there’s at least some part of it that’s customised. And, to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Captain America first appearing in a Marvel comic, Harley-Davidson Australia has customised 27 different bikes to represent Marvel superheroes — including one for Cap.
Marvel and Harley-Davidson Austalia have collaborated on a range of different Super Hero Customs, each of which is built for a different Marvel superhero. There’s the one you can see for Captain America above, but depending where you are in the country you can also head along to your local Harley dealer and check out a bike built for Black Widow, The Punisher, Iron Man or Thor.
16 superheroes are represented with 17 individual bikes — Hulk gets two, he’s a pretty hefty guy — and a total of 27 custom builds have been created, with the same bike sometimes replicated at a couple of different dealers across Australia and New Zealand. Our favourite is probably Punisher’s customised incarnation of the Forty-Eight, although we wouldn’t mind Cap’s Street Glide or Spider-Man’s Iron 883.
If you’re in Sydney, you can check out the Captain America Street Glide Special on display inside Myer in Pitt Street Mall. The entire range of Marvel-themed motorcycles will go on show at Oz Comic-Con Sydney between 10 and 11 September, too. Seriously, these bikes look incredible. We can’t even begin to imagine the price tags them after all the work that has gone into them — but, if you vote for your favourite, you have a chance to win a trip to Vegas and Hollywood from Marvel.
