For years, Marvel Studios was a staple at San Diego Comic-Con. Some years, though, like last year, they don’t attend to the displeasure of fans both at the convention and not. But this year, the directors of Marvel’s next two movies have all but confirmed they will be back.

Scott Derrickson and James Gunn, who are making Doctor Strange and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 respectively, took to Twitter to tease fans about attending the event. Here are the tweets:

Really? You’ll be so close. I might have to come see you. https://t.co/LbqvjJ46Vg

Strange comes out in November and is well into post-production; it makes complete sense for that to show up and start building anticipation. Gunn will have finished principal photography for Guardians by that time too, so he’ll have plenty of footage and information to share. Plus, Marvel is well into pre-production on Spider-Man: Homecoming, Black Panther, Captain Marvel and Avengers: Infinity War, so Comic-Con seems like the perfect place to announce official casting and attachments for those films and more. There have, certainly, been plenty of rumours about them all.
San Diego Comic-Con takes place July 21-24. We’ll be on the ground to give you the news as it breaks.
