One Of The Biggest Theories About Star Wars’ Big New Bad Guy Has Been Shot Down

Infinity War‘s scriptwriters reveal how they will balance the huge cast in the two movies. John Barrowman teases Doctor Who fans. Tim Burton offers an update on Beetlejuice 2. Plus, the Russo brothers sign up for another superhero series, and there are new pictures from Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time‘s season finales. To me, my spoilers!

Star Wars

Wild theories about the real identity of Supreme Leader Snoke have been bandied about ever since The Force Awakens, but the most prominent has been that Snoke is secretly Darth Plagueis the Wise, the master of Palpatine mentioned in Revenge of the Sith, a Sith who had learned how to use the Force to control life and death. However, resident Lucasfilm story group loremaster Pablo Hidalgo has taken to Twitter to once and for all confirm that there is no connection between the two figures:

So there you have it.

The God Particle

Daniel Bruhl is in the final stages of talks to join the film, according to the Hollywood Reporter. There are no details on his role, other than the fact that Bruhl will play a member of the team of astronauts that make a horrifying, reality-changing scientific discovery aboard a space station.

A Hero’s Awakening

Civil War and Infinity War directors the Russo brothers have signed on to create a new Chinese-language superhero franchise for Chinese audiences. The project is planned to be a trilogy with Anthony Leonari III and Mushui Feng, who will direct. [THR]

Avengers: Infinity War

Scriptwriter Stephen McFeely tells IGN how the film will try to balance focusing on the movie’s vast cast of characters:

When outlining it, we certainly had those conversations. I mean, in the same way that Civil War, not everyone has the same amount of scenes or lines, I think you can assume with so many characters, we’ll have to be as rigorous. We’ll say that these people will have larger stories, these people will have smaller stories, and hopefully they can flip in some cases. I know of a few right off the top of my head that had a small part here and a bigger part here.

Beetlejuice 2

Tim Burton has an update on the long-rumoured movie’s chances of actually happening:

This is the thing, it’s something that I’m interested in, but there’s so many stories [online], dumping Michael Keaton for Johnny Depp and this or that, and I’ve talked to these people and they didn’t wanna hear this so they just made up a story.

But the fact of it is I have talked to Michael and I have talked to Winona, I’ve talked to a few people. It’s something that I really would like to do in the right circumstances, but it’s one of those films where it has to be right. It’s not a kind of a movie that cries out [for a sequel]. It’s not the ‘Beetlejuice’ trilogy. So it’s something that if the elements are right — because I do love the character and Michael’s amazing as that character, so yeah we’ll see. But there’s nothing concrete yet.

Wonder Woman

Director Patty Jenkins has shared a new picture of the cast and crew, announcing the end of principal photography.

X-Men Apocalypse

Scott Summers’ powers awaken in a new clip from the film.

Doctor Who

Doctor Who fans are all a flutter after John Barrowman posted a video to Facebook, teasing that he would be in Cardiff — home to Roath Lock, the studio where Doctor Who is filmed — for a few weeks for a secret project. Naturally, as the show is currently filming its Christmas 2016 special, this had lead to speculation Barrowman will reprise his role as Captain Jack Harkness, but this is likely just the actor teasing fans.

The Strain

The show returns on August 28. [Coming Soon]
