Big Hero 6 Is Getting A Much-Deserved TV Series

Big Hero 6 Is Getting a Much-Deserved TV Series

This is a great idea. It's a better idea than a series of movies, honestly. Because what is more fitting to a superhero team than a bunch of weekly adventures? The animated series is set to premiere on Disney XD sometime in 2017, and it will pick up right where the movie left off: Hiro's now famous for the events in the movie and, according to Entertainment Weekly, will face "daunting academic challenges and the social trials of being the little man on campus".

Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred and Go Go will obviously also be around, so the name Big Hero 6 still makes sense. For them, the synopsis says, "Off campus, the stakes are raised for the high-tech heroes as they must protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains."

Disney XD has been home to a bunch of movie-based series over the years, but this one is honestly one of the more exciting. Maybe it's because the movie version was already animated and more kid-friendly than Avengers or Spider-Man. Maybe it's just that we cannot get enough Baymax. OK, yeah, it's totally the Baymax thing.

I'm guessing they'll still make movies, and link them in to the TV series like the MCU?!

What I want to see is BH6 linked to the MCU somehow! I wonder if it is still technically a Marvel property or if Disney has the whole rights now.

I didn't know this until now but Disney owns Marvel Entertainment (who did X-Men, Deadpool etc) AND Marvel Studios!

So I guess in theory they could force the universes together!

Although the Marvel Comics Big Hero 6 team look a bit different to the Disney movie...

Marvel doesn't have the movie rights to Xmen though. Much to the chagrin of XMen fans.

            Yeah it's very complicated!

I was just reading that Fox has the rights to 'mutants' so in order for Marvel to use quicksilver and scarlet witch they had to change their backstories from the comics so that they weren't 'mutants'!!

Yeah, for sure Disney could. They basically can make whatever they want happen since they own Marvel. I was more wondering if Marvel has the rights to do stuff with BH6 without having to ask Disney.

I still wish they hadn't pointlessly killed the brother off. The adventures with the two of them would hav been awesome.

That's like saying that Bruce Wayne's parents or Peter Parker's uncle were pointlessly killed or that Krypton was pointlessly destroyed.

It was pretty pointless, though. I mean, in-universe it was. Captain Fuck-knuckle could've saved him.

I really just hope it doesn't go the route of How to Train Your Dragon.

Loved the movie... but the series? Good god no. No. Why? Why were they allowed to do that?
