Playboy's First Nudity-Free Issue Targets Teens With A Snapchat Selfie

Playboy's First Nudity-Free Issue Targets Teens With a Snapchat Selfie

This is Sarah McDaniel, a 20-year-old Instagram celebrity. She's on the cover of the newly nudity-free Playboy magazine, striking a very millennial pose. Notice anything odd about her eyes, though? McDaniel took the internet by storm a few months ago thanks in part to her particularly beautiful case of heterochromia irdum. This is why she has one brown eye and one blue eye. But that's only a small part of what makes this cover interesting. Since Playboy decided to go PG-13 in October, the magazine says that traffic to its website has spiked by 400-per cent and the mean reader age dropped from 47-years-old to 30. It seems like the pivot to being a better-behaved media empire was pretty smart.

Cleverly, the new cover manages to evoke not only the obvious Snapchat reference but also a little bit of the internet cam girl allure. So it's familiar, if not a little naughty at the same time. McDaniel said of the cover, "The idea was to look at me from a boyfriend's perspective." (The photo was, of course, taken by a professional.)

It's voyeuristic and alluring which is why people started "reading" Playboy in the first place.

I never really saw the point of Playboy when up against the likes of Hustler, Penthouse and Maxim as all 4 always had proper in depth articles that you find in the likes of Time Magazine and of the 4 Playboy's shoot only ever show Boobs and Bum, they never showed Vaginas, where the other 3 did with Hustler goign the full hardcore route and showing penetration and cumshots

      Playboy showed vag.

never seen an issue that did im 34, every single issue that i found that was rated R18 never showed any vag and being a single dateless wonder.. ive read ALOT of porn mags

Weird. First one I ever bought showed it. Old issues show it too... In some countries it's censored out.

Are you in Qld? Due to Joh Bjelkie-Peterson, it's illegal in Qld to show pictures of nude women in which you can see protruding labia, therefore most of the magazines either printed alternate editions with no vag, or had pages torn out before being sent up here. I found this out on a roadtrip to NSW when I was 18 and found out they have waaaay better nudie magazines in the truckstops down there lol. An older cousin explained it to me when I got to Sydney haha

    She has different coloured eyes?

      Yep just like David Bowie

David Bowie didn't have different coloured eyes. He had Anisocoria, a condition in which a person’s eyes have different size pupils.

Huh. And I thought his dilated-pupil-eye was also brown, but not so.
My dad has one blue one brown, and I always thought it was the same as Bowie.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. I've been watching him for literally decades and whenever the subject of his eyes came up, it was called different coloured eyes.

because 20-something millenials totally read magazines and stuff...

This kid is twenty, but if they are targeting teens, how far do they go, how young is too young.
Something about this idea is just a little bit creepy.

playboy along with picture and penthouse have ratings as low as M15+ which means the most nudity that can displayed is Tits and Arse, though all R18 Playboy mags ive read never showed vag anyway.

    No nudity: pointless.
Woman with a face like a 14 year old girl posing in underwear: beyond creepy.

yeah basically they end up like another FHM

theres something about the way she is posed that is very off putting to me.

hmmm snapchat is a magazine now.
