Pantone, self-declared arbiter of visual light, has defined more colours than you would think imaginable. But with many colours comes a problem: how do you remember the names? This project uses emoji to try and help.
Designed by Burro Studio, this series of images imagines a world in which Pantone colour strips ship with helpful emoji to provide a visual reminder for the name. ‘Cheese Burger’ is obvious; ‘Spank Peach’ a little less so.
Burro’s project is almost certainly never going to see the light of day, but it’s a neat reminder that Pantone’s time-honored system could use a modern revamp. Just maybe not with emoji.
