It’s 55 years since To Kill a Mockingbird was published, but Harper Lee’s second book, Go Set A Watchman, is about to be released. Now you can read the first chapter online.
The first 3500 words of the novel have been published on the websites of The Guardian and The Wall Street Journal. If it’s too early to read — or if, you know, you’re at work — you can also listen to Reese Witherspoon narrating the chapter, too.
The new book follows Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird, now grown up, as she travels from New York to Alabama to visit her sick father. In the first chapter, she’s on a train heading south. The full book is to be published on July 14.
