In a recent episode of Broad City, Ilana shows Abbi porn while they’re at a cafe. Abbi protests, but in the show’s rococo logic, everyone else there is watching porn too. Is this really a thing? Are people just casually pulling up RedTube at Starbucks?
I once saw a person watch porn in public. On a Red Line train in Chicago, a dude was watching some unambiguous hardcore P in V action on his Galaxy as our car creaked along towards Howard. He didn’t look up. And a cursory Google search shows that public porn is such a thing that the San Francisco Public Library installed plastic hoods on their computers after fielding complaints about patrons’ porn-watching habits.
So this is a thing. And I wanna know: Have you done it? Or at least seen it in the wild? The closest I’ve come is the time I tried to watch Blue Is the Warmest Colour on a plane but had to close my computer when I saw my elderly seatmate staring at my screen, mildly horrified by its notoriously long sex scene.
