The 25th Anniversary Icehotel Features An Ice Cinema

This year marks the 25th anniversary of crazy Swedes building an entire hotel out of ice each year. In celebration of decades of mostly redundant work, they have made an extra-special 25th anniversary edition, complete with ice chapel and ice movie theatre. And the bar, of course.

The hotel is constructed from 30,000 tonnes of snice, a snow-ice mixture that bonds better than regular old ice. There are 61 rooms, with 16 of those being special ‘Art Suites’ with local creatives brought in to spice things up. This year, decorations include a giant chess board, orangutans and a suite built to resemble the inner workings of a mechanical clock.

There’s also a bar, chapel, and, yes, a cinema, complete with domed ceilings. It’s sad to think it will all come crashing down when the weather warms up. Again. [Dezeen]
